Harvey Elliott feels home from England U21 squad after positive COVID-19 test

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has been sent home from the England Under-21 squad after testing positive for COVID-19.

Lee Carsley’s side face Czech Republic on Friday as they attempt to qualify for next summer’s European Championship, with further fixtures against Albania, Kosovo and Slovenia later this month.

Tottenham full-back Ryan Sessegnon withdrew from the squad on Monday with an injury.

Elliott, 19, made 12 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions in 2021-22.

He began the season in Liverpool’s starting XI, but suffered a fractured ankle against Leeds United in September, and only returned in February.
