Al Morganti 2022 Hockey Hall Of Fame NHL Media Award

94WIP Morning Show co-host Al Morganti is a Hall Of Famer! Morganti is receiving a 2022 Hockey Hall Of Fame NHL media award.

Morganti was named the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award for excellence in hockey journalism recipient announced on Tuesday by Frank Seravalli, president of the professional hockey writers’ association, live on the 94WIP Morning Show.

“You sir are going to have a plaque with your name on it in the Hockey Hall Of Fame in Toronto,” Seravalli told Morganti on the air on Tuesday.

“I can’t believe this,” Morganti said. “Thank you very much. I want to thank everybody there…I owe anything I have ever done in any aspect of work is through hockey. The people are just terrific. I haven’t worked a day of my life because I just love that game so much and I love the game because of the people in it and the people I’ve worked with in the media. And my wife Carol is here with me. We’ve gone through this with hockey.”

Morganti, a graduate of Boston University College of Communication, began his career at the Boston Globe. He then covered the Atlanta Flames at the Atlanta Constitution and then the Flyers for the Philadelphia Inquirer. He has spent the majority of his life in Philadelphia, co-hosting the 94WIP Morning Show with Angelo Cataldi and now doing pre and post game analysis for NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Bill Clement will receive the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for outstanding contributions as a hockey broadcaster.
